Swimming Pools for Active Leisure, Sports and Health (SPLASH) has made vital progress in pursuit of building a world-class swimming facility on the Eastside: • City of Bellevue’s $100,000 feasibility study verifies the need for a large facility in the Bellevue area • The study outlines capital costs for five facility options and six possible Bellevue sites • Partnerships with the school district, YMCA, BCC and corporate sponsors are being explored • Next Steps: choose one facility and one site location; allocate money for the design process; target Park Bond in 2009 for main facility funding (SPLASH’s preferred option: 54m x 25y competitive pool; 25m x 25y program pool; diving pool; therapy pool; family whirlpool; leisure pool with lazy river, slides, and interactive play features)
